Curriculum & Alignment

Each ABii lesson directly aligns with national math standards and is mapped to each state standard. Numeracy units of study cover Geometry, Measurement and Data, Number and Operations and Algebraic Thinking to provide supplemental instruction and practice.

If you have questions about specific standards or concepts covered, reach out! Our team regularly reviews ABii’s content library to ensure lessons are rigorous and support key topics covered in school.

Pre-assessment

In ABii’s World, problem solving is a team sport. In this example, ABii’s onscreen friend, Vee, is having trouble finding the total length of 2 creepy crawlers. This example pre-assessment tests the student’s comprehension of the skill before launching either a celebratory guitar solo or a scaffolded, step-by-step, guided explanation of how to solve the problem.

Scaffolding

ABii is ready to provide support for every K-5 learner, whether they are working at, above or below grade level. When students do not pass the pre-assessment, ABii automatically launches the scaffolded step-by-step process for solving the problem. In this example, the student is prompted at each step to help solve a series of smaller problems - determining the lengths or each worm, before adding them together.

The question asks for the sum of a caterpillar's length and an earthworm's length, with answer options 8, 7, 6, and 9. Interactive elements include volume controls, a submit button, and a character in the lower right corner.

Recap & Assessment

At the conclusion of every lesson, ABii gives the student another chance to answer the original pre-assessment question. Next, ABii presents a recap of the problem-solving process the tutorial followed to achieve the correct answer. To reinforce the skill, four additional assessment problems are provided to test the student’s knowledge of the same skill.
